Thanksgiving Appeal

One hundred and fifty-five years. For 155 years, St John’s has been “the church on the hill” in Diamond Creek. In November of 1867, the foundation stone of our church building was laid (and subsequently lost, but that’s another story). Each year, on that anniversary, we come together to thank God for the work he has done, and is still doing, in our midst. Our services on November 13 marked this anniversary, with a time of reflection and thanksgiving. As…

What is Church?

The Church is people. ‘The word for church in the New Testament (ecclesia) means a gathering or assembly. It’s used to refer to…

Got questions? Try Alpha.

2021 is a new year and we invite you on a journey with us. A journey to connect. A journey to explore faith. A journey to ask the bigger questions around Jesus and his life. Maybe 2020 was a year which was (is!) still tricky to put into words but it’s prompted something in you to think further about life and it’s meaning.  Perhaps you once believed but dismissed faith years ago or have decided it’s not for you but…

A Song for Groaning People

At the conclusion of our Who Am I? series, we were encouraged to look to the future coming of Jesus. This means putting our trust in God, that he would take away the frustrations of this world and make all things new. We were privileged to hear Katelyn Bland perform her original song Weight at our services, and it’s exciting to say that you can now download and listen to it yourself! You can download this file here.

A long road of exploration began and ends with a Shepherd

This article was originally published in The Melbourne Anglican Julie Blinco grew up disillusioned with the church, because people did not appear to live up to its teachings.
