St John’s Kids, 24 January 2021

Sunday 24 January:

Access our streamed services here.

If you would like to attend our in person service at either 10am or 5pm please register your attendance here.

Our St John’s Kids program will remain in recess during the holidays and will resume in-person with the school term.

If you are attending in-person services with kids this week, the activity sheets provided in the blog will be available in physical form for you to collect when you arrive at church. However, we do ask that you BYO pencils/pens as we will not be providing these at this time, for COVID-Safe reasons.

Pre-read John 21 in preparation for Julie’s talk.

After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to his disciples several times. On this occasion, the disciples were out all night on a boat and had not caught any fish. Jesus called out from the shore and told them to throw their nets out the other side of the boat.

Chat with your kids about what would have happened if they did not follow Jesus’ instructions – There would have been no fish and no breakfast on the beach with the risen Jesus! And talk about what happens when we don’t listen to Jesus or we refuse to do the things he calls us to do – We miss out on the wonderful blessings he wants for us.

In the second half of the reading, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him. See if your kids can come up with a reason why Jesus might ask the same question over and over. I think that it is not enough for us just to say we love Jesus and want to follow him – Jesus was trying to drive home the point that we must live out our love for him by loving and caring for others.

Activities, should you need them, to keep hands busy during the talk:

Have a great week!
