Food Pantry
COVID has affected everyone, but its biggest impact has been on the most vulnerable. Jesus calls us to love our neighbours and to especially care for those who are most in need.
As of this week, a FOOD PANTRY at St John’s is accessible 24/7, under the veranda of the ‘Pizza Box’ (the portable building at the top of the carpark, near the rear of the church building). Food is free to anyone who needs supplies for any reason.

Family Discipleship
This segment is designed to be activities/conversation starters parents can incorporate into everyday routine, e.g. at mealtime or bedtime (not as an extra thing you need to add to your already busy schedules), to help make engaging in ‘God stuff’ with their children part of everyday life, not just for Sundays.
Last week we looked at keeping prayer simple – not worrying about using big, complicated words – and the significance of The Lord’s Prayer.
This week, we look at Bold Prayer.
TELL some knock-knock jokes. (Use these, tell your own, or Google hundreds!)
- Knock, Knock. (Who’s there?) Luke. (Luke who?) Luke through the window and find out.

- What happens when you knock on someone’s door?
- What happens if you stand at someone’s door and don’t knock/ring bell?
READ Luke 11:5-13
Jesus wants us to understand, that we should connect with God through prayer. And that we should pray expecting something to happen as a result: When we ask God, we receive. When we seek God, we find him. When we knock, God opens the door.
Additionally, the boldness of the friend persistently knocking at midnight should encourage us to be bold in asking God for things and not to think that he wouldn’t care or want to give it to us. Even (most) earthly parents want good things for their children. DISCUSS how much more our perfect heavenly father must want for us.
REMEMBER
God is good and loving. He always hears and answers our prayers. However, he may not answer prayer the way we want him to, because he knows better than us what is best for us. Whatever it is that you want, keep looking to God for the answer.
