St John’s Kids, 31 January 2021

Sunday 31 January

You can continue to access our digital services here.

We are no longer requiring pre-registration for our in-person services – 10am and 5pm. We do still need to maintain electronic records, so scan the QR Code on arrival and enter your details. This will take a few minutes the first time, as you need to register with a password, but will be simpler thereafter.

St John’s Kids will be resuming in-person this week! We won’t start our teaching program until next week when the new sermon series starts, but 10mths is a loooong time in the life of a child, so we’ll have some fun games this week so that kids can reconnect with each other and their leaders (or meet for the first time!) and get used to being in the space together again.

To ensure our records are kept up to date, we do require Registration Forms be completed annually for participation in our programs. Please do so here. We will be encouraging the use of hand sanitiser, so make note on the form if your child(ren) has experienced a reaction.

The future of the St John’s Kids Blog

Pre-COVID, I only used this blog for event announcements and perhaps a few Lent/Advent family activities.

During lockdown, this blog became our weekly means of resourcing parents with material linked to the sermon series and online events and sessions for kids.

With many families choosing to return to in-person services, I anticipate that the focus of this blog will be ideas and resources to help parents actively disciple their kids during the week, regardless of whether they are attending in-person activities or continuing to connect with our digital service, rather than every week tie-ins with the Sunday services.

If you are a family who are intending to continue with our digital service, either indefinitely or until a later (perhaps post-vaccine) date and would appreciate resources that tie in with the Sunday sermon series, please contact me. I am more than happy to facilitate this if the need is there.

Family Discipleship Activity

Kids have either headed back to kinder/school this week or are about to. This coming week, tailor your daily prayers together around this theme:

MON Pray for the kids starting school for the first time, or changing schools
TUE Pray for new and old friendships
WED Pray for teachers, principals, and support staff
THU Pray for children who are still remote learning (and their parents!)
FRI Pray for the children of our link missionaries

Alpha

We will be running an Alpha course this term, specifically for parents of little ones. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions designed to explore the Christian faith – to ask questions and share points of view, in a friendly and informal environment.

When:  Wednesday evenings from 10 February, 7:45-9:00pm

Where: via Zoom – So put the kids to bed, grab a cuppa (or something slightly stronger) and join in from the convenience of your home.

You can find more information and check out the talk for the first session here. You are welcome to try out the group for a week or two before making a commitment for the rest of the term.

Have a great week!

Kylie – Children & Families’ Minister
