Volunteer Spotlight | Bev Ward

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we love our volunteers. We’ve got some great stories to tell about some of our volunteers, about why they serve, and what they love about volunteering. First up, meet Bev. Bev’s a retired nurse, and if you’ve been around St John’s or St Katherine’s, you’ve probably know her, or have heard her laugh! Bev serves in the Aged Care facility Leith Park, where she lives, leading sing-a-long sessions for (as she puts it) the ‘oldies’.…

Church News March 3rd

After stepping into her new role in February, Kylie gives us an update on Children & Families at St John’s, including the rebranding of our Children’s teaching time at both our 9:30am and 6pm services to St John’s Kids. Also in this issue, we’re supporting Prison Fellowship in their Easter Bake mission, to give every prisoner in Victoria Easter cookies along with the messsage of Jesus’ death and ressurection. A long road of exploration began and ends with a Shepherd

This article was originally published in The Melbourne Anglican Julie Blinco grew up disillusioned with the church, because people did not appear to live up to its teachings. However, although she did not consider herself to be a Christian for a long time, she did cling to one word from her grade eight confirmation at a North Queensland Anglican high school – the word “shepherd”.
