St John’s Kids & Families, 08 August 2021

Last Week:

We are very thankful that we were able to spend last Sunday in-person at St John’s Kids, to reconnect with each other after Lockdown 5.0 followed our school holiday break, particularly as we have found ourselves in another lockdown already!

I know we are all tired of this back-and-forthing. Change always requires some level of effort, but this rate of change is exhausting, and I know some of you are doing it really tough. However, we are likely to find ourselves in more of these snap lockdowns, to give authorities a chance to get on top of contact tracing etc. so we need to find ways of expressing our disappointments while maintaining a heart of gratitude. Jesus gave us the recipe for experiencing God’s peace and joy in all circumstances, the Beatitudes, which we are going to look at more closely in this week’s talk.

I would encourage you to lean on God during your difficult times. As a family, intentionally look for things to be grateful for and give thanks. Last night, the thing my boys were grateful for was that their dental check-ups this weekend were cancelled … again! Not sure I quite agree that’s a good thing, but it gave us a laugh and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.

In keeping with a spirit of gratitude, here’s a taste of what St John’s Kids got up to last weekend …

This week:

Join one of our livestream services at 10am or 5pm, here.

But before that …

St John’s Kids is moving online this week, before the 10am livestream!

9:00 – 9:25am Kinder/Prep/1/2

9:30 – 9:55am Grades 3/4/5/6

For both sessions, join here.

If prompted, Meeting ID: 821 1239 8356 / Passcode: 892100

Note: If you join early, prepare to be in the ‘waiting room’ before being admitted.

We strive to create safe environments for children to come to know and experience the love of Jesus. Each online session will have two adult leaders and we encourage in-room parental supervision, particularly for younger children. If you would like the option of leaving your child(ren) unsupervised in our online sessions, you must complete a permission form, if you haven’t previously done so.

During the livestream service, if you would like to keep young hands busy while listening to the talk, these activity sheets are related to this week’s bible passage, Matthew 5:1-12.

Have a great week,

Kylie – Children & Families’ Minister

St John’s is committed to Child Safety and welcomes your feedback on how we can keep improving.
